Hi! I’m David Torbert. By day, I’m a software engineer. By night, I’m an obsessed fan of Virginia Tech.
Technical Skill Set
I am a senior .NET developer and have been working with document management software for over a decade. Software that I wrote is in use in at least one Fortune 500 company. Within the last few years, I have become proficient in Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics AX. I also frequently use C++ and I’m one of those rare programmers who has actually written something meaningful in C++/CLI (Microsoft’s .NET version of C++).
I am very proficient with programming in a SQL Server environment and I even know enough Oracle PL/SQL to get by.
Recently, I have become somewhat enamored with WordPress and PHP. I have written a few plugins for personal use and modified some plugins to suit my needs, though I’m not a WordPress expert by any means. For that, you want my brother.
Personal
First and foremost, I am a Christian. I believe that Jesus died for my sins, that He rose from the dead, and that He is coming again.
I am an alum of Virginia Tech and closely follow college football and college basketball.
I volunteer with Tidewater Council of the Boy Scouts of America and its Order of the Arrow Lodge, Blue Heron Lodge, #349.
